Holy Week

On Wednesday, Jesus dined with Simon, a former leper, and many others, including Lazarus and Mary who anointed His head with a very expensive ointment, as, Jesus said, "to prepare me for burial." During the Passover meal in the Upper Room on Thursday, Jesus announced that one of the disciples would betray Him and identified Judas as the one. The Lord also established the ordinance that we call The Lord's Supper, charging them and us to do this in remembrance of Him. Jesus told them that they would all desert Him, and, although Peter assured Him that he would never do such a thing, he soon did. Leaving the Upper Room, Jesus and the eleven went to the Mount of Olives where Jesus would pray and be arrested. Taken before the religious leaders who found Him guilty of blasphemy in a mock trial, Jesus was sent to the Roman authorities who found no guilt in Him. However, because of the insistence of the people, He was sentenced to be crucified.
