Derek Gentle, Pastor
Pastor Gentle has been at First
Baptist Church since June, 1996. He and his wife Sheila have two children,
Hannah and Micah. Hannah's husband is a pastor. They live in New York with their two daughters. Micah is in college. Also, Nicholas now lives with the Gentles. Derek told the church when he came, "I'm not from Tallassee, but I got here as quick as I could". He is a native of the Birmingham, Alabama area. Derek emphasizes practical
preaching and teaching from the Bible, lacing his messages with a little
dry humor. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary. Sheila a Title I teacher at Tallassee Elementary School.

Ron Turner
Minister of Music and Adult Education
Ron started with us the first Sunday in February 2002, coming to us from the Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan. Pastor Gentle has given him the nickname, "Big Time." Ron leads upbeat music and is a builder of music programs. He also works with our Sunday School and with our Senior Adult ministry. He and his wife, Kay, have two grown sons, Woodie and Wyman, and three grandchildren.

Joshua Cochran
Minister to Students
Josh started with us on August 24, 2008. Josh came to us from the First First Baptist Church of Gautier, Mississippi, where he served as Minister of Students & Activities. He is a graduate of William Carey College. His dad was in the armed forces so Josh attended London Central High School in Wycombe, England. He and his wife, Kristen, have three sons, Joshua ("Isaac"), Jeremiah, and Jadon.

Susan Jackson, Church Secretary
Susan began with us in the summer of 2001. She has previously worked at the Air Force Academy and at the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (now North American Mission Board).

Angie Jolly, Financial Secretary
Angie is part time with us and takes care of our financial records. She and her husband Tracy are members of First Baptist Church.
